A student on one of my training courses recently asked me how he could find out when a Mac was last powered on.
This is NOT a new feature in Mountain Lion, so you can also perform this action in previous OS X releases, but I thought it might be a useful nugget of info for our blog!
To find out the recent reboot history of a Mac:
- Open the Terminal Application from /Applications/Utilities on your hard drive.
- Enter ‘last reboot’ at the command prompt. This will list the dates and times of the most recent reboots for this machine :
Looking at my results, I clearly use my Mac everyday, all day, including weekends! 🙂
This feature has been tested using OS X v10.8.1 which was the latest Mac OS release at the time of writing and also using the latest Internal and external Apple keyboards.
