Course Description
Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.6 to v10.7 Upgrade is a one-day hands-on course which focuses on the new features found in Mac OS X 10.7 Server and the Mac OS X Server Essentials 10.7 exam.
The course will focus on key points of the chapters outlined below. This course is only open to delegates who already have passed the Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.6 certification.
Who should attend?
- This class is for technical coordinators and entry-level system administrators who are tasked with implementing and maintaining Mac OS X Server based systems and who are already familiar with supporting Mac OS X Server v10.6.
Prerequisites
Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending this course:
Completion of the Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.6 course and exam
Apple Certified Support Professional exam
Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC)
Demonstrate your knowledge of Mac OS X Server v10.7, and take the Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.7 exam. Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC) 10.7 certification is granted on successful completion of both the Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.7 exam and the Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.7 exam.

Course Outline
Chapter 1: Installing and Configuring OS X Server Installation, initial configuration, server administration tools, and troubleshooting installation issues.
Chapter 2: Authenticating and Authorizing Accounts Creating and administering accounts, configuring service access controls (SACLs), configuring VPN service, and troubleshooting.
Chapter 3: Using Open Directory.
Configuring Open Directory, single sign-on, backing up directory data, troubleshooting Open Directory.
Chapter 4: Managing Accounts
Using Profile Manager to manage devices, troubleshooting Profile Manager.
Chapter 5: Implementing Deployment Solutions Configuring and troubleshooting NetBoot/Network Install to deploy OS X.
Chapter 6: Using File Sharing
Configuring and troubleshooting Apple File Service, share points for Windows users, WebDAV access for mobile devices, providing Time Machine network backups.
Chapter 7: Managing Web Services
Hosting multiple web sites on a single server.
Chapter 8: Using Collaborative Services
Setting up and configuring wikis and blogs, providing iChat and iCal services to assist people working together, and configuring Address Book service to share contact information amongst multiple computers, providing mail services.
