Apple Certified Specialist – Deployment 10.6
Course Overview
• Deployment Planning: The first chapter takes the student through an overview of what planning is required to develop a strategy for a deployment scenario.
• Deploying Individual Items and Containers: Learn how to deploy single files, archives and containers to Mac OS X systems using Apple Remote Desktop and Mac OS X Server. Understand the differences between packages, bundles and archives as well as handling resource forks.
• Deploying with Installation Packages: In this chapter the student is introduced to Apple’s installer technology. Here we create custom installation packages using Apple’s Package Maker.
• Deploying Entire Systems: Learn how to create full system images for a complete deployment of Mac OS X. Understand the differences between cloned systems and modular systems.
• Using NetBoot for Deployment: Install and configure Apple’s NetBoot service. Configure NetBoot to deploy images created in previous labs to computers over a network.
• Postimaging Deployment Considerations: Once a system has been deployed we will look at post imaging tasks. We look at various techniques on how to apply post installation configuration such as renaming the computers and binding them to a directory server.
• System Maintenance: Finally learn how to keep your Mac OS X clients updated via the Apple Software Update sever and Remote Desktop.
