Lion Tip : Rearrange Menu Bar Items

I have occasionally wanted to change the order of the menu bar items at the top right of my screen. Some i use more than others and fancy them in a certain order.

Well, if you hold down the ‘Command’ key while clicking on any OS X system menu bar item, you can drag them into your desired order!

Worth noting though that this may not work with some third party menu bar apps, but seems to work with most!

Strange, Sophos, “some” iStat Pro menu items and Text Expander don’t seem to support it!

To me, this seems not to work with Mountain Lion

  3. Hi JoeSixApps.

Are you using the retail or Preview/Beta release of 10.8? I have just tested this feature with the official retail release of Mountain Lion and it all worked for me.

Does seem to only work with Apple pre-installed menu items and not additional menu items you have added. Try moving the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Sound menu items around, these should work.
