Bored with just the two minimization effects in Mac OS X, Genie and Scale?
Well, there is a secret third effect, called ‘Suck’, which is not available in the Dock system preference pane but can be enabled via the Terminal.
Step 1. Open a terminal window. (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
Step 2. Enter the following exactly as printed, (copy and paste if possible!):
defaults write com.apple.dock mineffect -string suck
Step 3. To get this change to take effect, you will need to restart the dock process. Whilst still in the Terminal Application, enter the following :
(If at any time you want to go back to either of the original effects, just select your effect again in the Dock System Preference Pane. Or, reuse the line above and replace suck with either genie or scale. Note : With the ‘suck’ effect enabled, the Dock System Preference Pane will still only display Genie or Scale).
